One of the most beguiling promoters of the New Age in medicine has been the well known reporter, Bill Moyers. Moyers had gained a reputation over the years as a respected journalist and a Southern Baptist. He graduated from the conservative Southwestern Theological Seminary.
But this Baptist Christian, Bill Moyers, has taken a notable turn to the left. In fact, he has embraced a more liberal-minded philosophy over the Christian faith. How do we know this? Moyers has changed his membership from Southern Baptist to the liberal United Church of Christ…Moyers has produced a five part series on Television (PBS, February 22-24, 1993) entitled "Healing and The Mind," as well as a companion book with the same title. Moyers presents himself to the television viewer as being a skeptical inquirer, an investigative journalist. In this way, the viewer is caught offguard. They feel safe, not realizing that he has set out to lure them into the New Age belief system. "Healing and The Mind" was funded by the blatant New Age organization, Institute of Noetic Sciences. In a large promotional "article" in USA Today, Moyers promotes the unfounded belief in the Occultic chi energy flows, and eastern meditation. (21 January 1993, p. 7D). Moyers has publically shown his allegiance to the New Age world-view. He has he hosted several programs specifically attacking and undermining the evangelical Christian faith. He also collaborated with New Age mythologist, Joseph Campbell to produce one of the most successful and respected series, "The Power of Myth." This series subjected the viewer to an extended amount of New Age thinking.
