 Many of Theosophist Helena Blavatsky's beliefs can be found in two extensive works entitled Isis Unveiled and The Secret Doctrine. The Secret Doctrine, written in 1888, is a 1,474-page occult classic that initiated many prominent figures into the realm of spiritualism. Blavatsky made them come away with the belief that they had found some sort of "special truth" that only a chosen few would ever know.This material was allegedly dictated through her Great Masters who were called by the various names Koot Hoomi, Morya, or simply 'the Ascended Masters of Wisdom." These 'masters' were, she believed, more highly evolved beings who, after going through many incarnations, had left the earth's plane and were now guiding mankind.
